Everyone welcome the lovely Genelle Bevan who is owner & photographer at Immerse Photography. Working along side her is Paul Osta, studio manager & photographer. Genelle's area of expertise is mainly Wedding photography, although she does also offer Newborn/Family Portraiture & Commercial Photography. The crazy perfectionist blames the Virgo inside for being such a great photographer, admitting she has expensive taste, loves beautiful things & thrives on being in a different space for every wedding. Genelle is not only a photographer at a wedding but also a stylist, timekeeper, A liaison, peacekeeper, problem solver, personal dresser & general jack of all trades! Genelle's first found weddings while working as a journalist at the local paper. A friend, knowing she could snap a decent shot, ask her if she could photograph their wedding. Saying NO originally simply just not wanting to do it, she later found out that they wouldn't actually take no for an answer so she ended up doing it! The photos turned out really good. That's when Genelle knew she had the talent, and 20 years down the track she is where she is today! The thing she loves most about the wedding industry is that you get to be so present & capture some of the most significant moments in a person's life! Getting to hang out with amazing families, in stunning locations on a couples special day is just so AWESOME! Genelle's favourite style within photography services is shooting very candidly to capture REAL moments as they happen. Their work is timeless & meaningful. 'When looking back through the images from weddings I really feel like I have been a major part of the day & that's what I love most' says Genelle. The most adventurous thing that has happened in Genelle's journey was being flown to Vegas for an elopement a few years back. It was one of the highlights of her career. The one question Genelle makes sure she asks all her clients is if they have had a really decent look at Immerse's work and if they have, then what do they love about it? This helps them understand if the couple are familiar with what they do & if immerse will be suitable for them. Another thing Genelle likes to discuss with the couples is " It doesn't matter what I charge you, what's included or not included in the package, if you don't love our work & who we are & what we do then we are not the right photographers for you" At the end of the day it's the couples that are buying the photos to look back on in years to come so they have to love them! When talking about trends one of Genelle's favourite's is the dried flower movement. She find it awful seeing beautiful fresh blooms at weddings, especially when the couple has gone all out, having them all over the reception room knowing the cost & the fact they are going to die doesn't sit well. With having the dried flowers the florist can keep them or the couple can re use for months to come. Knowing they are the most sustainable when it comes to waste and recycling is why Genelle just loves it so much! Genelle's best advice to couples in the planning phase of their wedding is to make the wedding about you as a couple . Who you are, what you believe in & what is important to YOU! You don't have to follow any trends or traditions that don't work for you. Make the day meaningful, relaxed & full of love & laughter.
