Wedding Planning Through the Eyes of a Bride

Every now and then, we like to flip the script and hear it straight from the legends who actually tie the knot here at The Shearing Shed. Because who better to share what worked, what they loved, and what they’d do differently than a bride who’s just walked (and danced) the walk?

This week, we sat down with one of our gorgeous Shearing Shed brides to get her perspective on planning her big day.

The Vision (and the Panic Before the Vision)

Like most brides, she started out with about 47 Pinterest boards, a head full of ideas, and no clue how it would all come together. At first, trying to picture the whole day in the Barn, the Courtyard, and then flowing into The Shearing Shed felt a little overwhelming. But once she locked in her florist and styling vibe, things suddenly clicked. From there, planning turned from stressful spreadsheets into something fun and creative.

The Suppliers Who Made It Shine

One of her biggest takeaways? Trust your vendors. From the celebrant who set the tone of the ceremony, to the DJ who filled the dance floor, to the florist who knew just how to make the Barn bloom, each played their part. Having suppliers who understood the couple’s style meant she could actually relax and enjoy the process.

Her hot tip: when your vendors work together seamlessly, the day feels effortless.

The Little Things You Forget

It’s always the tiny details that catch you out. Cake knives, confetti cones, or who’s actually bringing the lighters for all those dreamy candles. The Shearing Shed team is across this stuff (we’ve seen a wedding or two!), but her advice for other brides was to get 100% of those little bits sorted before the day. That way, no one’s running around the morning of trying to source a last-minute cake knife from Woolies.

What She Would Do Differently

She said if she could do it all again, she’d make sure every last detail was set the day before. Do a final look over everything, then let it go. Know that you are as organised as you think you are, and if you missed something, it wasn’t important anyway. Her advice: lock it all in ahead of time and leave the big day for hair, makeup, champagne, and happy tears.

Best Bits of Planning

Pinterest inspo, scrolling florists’ Instagrams, and dreaming up colour palettes were all fun, but nothing compared to the actual day itself. Walking into the Shearing Shed, seeing the Barn styled just as she’d imagined, hearing the first clink of champagne glasses in the Courtyard, those were the pinch-me moments that made the whole process worth it.

Words of Wisdom for Future Brides

  • Watch for hidden costs. Budget for extras like alterations, cake serving, or last-minute décor.

  • Don’t sweat the trends. Go with what feels like you.

  • Trust your vendors. That’s what they’re here for.

  • Enjoy it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime party - don’t let stress steal the fun.

  • And most importantly? If you want the damn Valentino shoes, buy the Valentino shoes.

Her Final Word

“The whole day was beyond anything we imagined. Planning was a journey, but it was so worth it to see it all come together in such a beautiful space. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.”

If you’re in planning mode, take it from a bride who’s been there: breathe, trust the process, and let us take care of the backdrop. The Shearing Shed is your blank canvas - and we can’t wait to see how you make it your own.
