Hello & Happy Wednesday people! Today I am going to be introducing you to another one of our lovely vendors; The Willow Branch which is owned & created by Catherine Machell. Catherine specializes in Floristry, styling, day dreaming & day making, she loves all things Wedding! Catherine runs a family of over passionate florists who will go above & beyond to make your day amazing. Each of her florist's excels in different styles which is super awesome as variety is the spice of life. There is usually someone working personally with a couples brief to really create a unique atmosphere, always working hard to capture the right colours, textures & overall vibe on their special day. Growing up Catherine had no idea what she wanted to do when she left school, she kept on trialing short courses until she found one she liked & that was her certificate 2 in Floristry. Falling absolutely head over heals for the industry & never looking back. Within the floristry services the Willow Branch provide they also offer glassware & table decorations to help stylize or compliment the venue the clients have chosen. When talking about Catherine she is utterly addicted to flowers and making people smile! Sunflowers are her absolute favourite but anything with berries, branches or a good fragrance makes her day! First starting The Willow Branch after finishing her apprenticeship in 2012. Originally the idea began as a blog for art, floristry and life but eventuated into so much more. Building the Willow Branch family around local talents with what our community has to offer has extended into the dynamic team they have today. Catherine is so grateful for the family that has grown plus all the opportunities that have been presented to the family. In Catherine's spare time you can find her patting dogs, roasting vegetables, reading books on flower farming or having a bath with a cup of tea. Catherine's finance Brad & herself travel down to Epping three days a week to bring everyone the freshest and most diverse produce available. We have been able to meet so many amazing local, knowledgeable growers along the way that they can now call friends. Willow Branch hope that in the future the team can continue to celebrate the best of the community & wedding industry to bring joy through flowers, plants and artisan crafts to all of their loved ones. The thing Catherine loves most about the wedding industry is that she is surrounded by love birds. She loves capturing the essence of a couple- really getting to know them, their story, their taste, their style then re creating that in their flowers. When talking to Catherine about style she loves anything that looks organic & garden gathered. She loves bouquets with a unique shape that aren't perfectly round, ones that have pods, berries, branches & herbs mixed throughout. When asking Catherine what the best/craziest thing she has ever done her response was just before she has opened their retail store she was on top of a ladder on the back of a ute swinging lengths of florals around a massive tree as a ceremony back drop. The one question Catherine asks her clients that best helps her understand them usually starts with focusing on the colour palette, then they really knuckle down to work out the overall look they are creating then find flowers to match their vision. When asking Catherine about her most memorable event she had a pretty cute wedding a while ago, the groom was obsessed with Star Wars so they attached little Lego figurines to the buttonholes (he had skywalker) that was super cute! One of Catherine's favourite trends is the reflexed roses & free flowing vibe that a lot of the couples are going for! Catherine's advice for new couples in the planning phase is to have a clear idea of the colours & style you are after, it is a lot easier for the Willow Branch to match the flowers to your vibe than have to match everything to the flowers. Also enjoy the planning process have fun with it it is super exciting times! CONTACT |
