Okay I don't think anything can beat the the feels of live entertainment!
A live band and or singer just brings so much to the venue! I think 90% of people would have to agree with me on this one, I am a huge taker for busting out on the dance floor to all those classic hits as I'm sure you all are. The music has to be personal to you both as a couple, as well as bringing great atmosphere to please your crowd!
If you hire a DJ to come and spin all your favourite tracks on the most high tech equipment, the atmosphere will be completely different.
Everything comes down to personal choice but I think you should keep an open mind, and maybe go and watch some live bands before you lock anything in :)

The unreal atmosphere

'When choosing a live band you want them to have the ability to get everyone out of their chairs and mingling on the dance floor. Live music is all about the enjoyment it gives to people, its not hard to get into the good vibes of a wedding when you have a band there belting out all of those classic hits! A great band knows exactly how to read their audience, they also know how to set the right vibe & get the dance floor going. I mean if this is what they do week in week out they should definitely be good at it!
The general vibe with a band is something sadly Spotify can't do, but is everything that goes with the unreal atmosphere within a wedding. Once you attend a few live performances I'm sure you will make great decision when choosing a wedding band that suits you & your significant other!

Leave the music choices
to the professionals

At the end of the day these guys are the professionals. Many bands can play a wide variety of music from R&B to classic rock & everything in between. Some bands are better at one genre, like heavy metal or punk rock, so check them out before booking.
Most bands will learn new songs for a wedding, especially if it is for a milestone event like the first dance or father daughter dance.
You can give a few song names in the early days of planning to let them know what you enjoy listening to, then leave it up to them. They will know exactly how to entertain the audience with all tried and true classics!

More intimate

A band brings all those inclusive vibes on the dance floor! Most bands even let you get up & have a sing if you want to. You may even be able to go up to request a few songs, generally speaking the bride & groom would of already worded them up on all their favourites.
The band feeds of the energy the guests bring to the dance floor, so the more you give the more you get. Everyone is usually up & about when a live band plays even the grandparents which is so awesome!

Think theme

If you're aiming for a classy, glamorous wedding a cheesy disco band will ruin the mood, look for a swing or jazz band to keep those feels alive!
The type of music you select can set the tone of your wedding & this is often remembered. You want a band that guests are going to talk about forever with memories of how they had the best night tearing up the dance floor to the best songs!
Once you have found a band that suits your style there is a few more things to consider,
What is your colour theme? Maybe you suggest to the band they have to have a coloured tie to match the bridesmaids or even just suited up black & white, again everything is up to what you want on your special day!

Diverse range of music

The music provided to you by a professional band is more diverse, which means the possibilities are endless.
The music choices can go from old school hits, to more modern choices.
A live band will always cater to the couples personal choice of music.

When it comes to selecting a band the options are endless it just all comes down to what you and your lover are into.
Choose your own adventure <3

I would suggest chatting to your venue to see if they have any recommended vendors that go well with the venue you have chosen. You can then schedule a date day with your lover to head out to venues to watch some bands perform live. Then as they say, when you know - you know!

Booking a band

I would suggest chatting to your venue to see if they have any recommended vendors that go well with the venue you have chosen. Also doing some research is a great way to find some trendy bands, or even chatting to your friends & family.
You can then schedule a date day with your lover to head out to venues to watch some bands perform live, then they say when you know, you know!

Just a little heads up some popular bands will be heavily booked out so you may want to get in quick if you like what you see!
