 KNOW WHAT YOU WANTOkay so I know you probably don't even know what you want as you haven't done this before? Don't worry I am hearing you, this is why I will try to give you a guide in what you should be thinking about when trying to choose your celebrant. Trying to navigate out what you want will just take that little bit of extra time so you don't end up wasting your time going down the wrong path. I think the easiest option will be thinking about what you don't want, therefore you can start a process of elimination. Think back to a wedding you have previously visited, what didn't you like? Why didn't you like it? What would you do differently? Next thing to consider is the style of ceremony you are after, do you want short & sweet or something a little bit more raw & emotional? Either way you want your celebrant to deliver what you want. These days there are so many different types of celebrants to choose from young & fun or your more reserved & sophisticated. Next you should think about the personality type of your celebrant to you & your guests. Do you want them to entertain your guests to take away those nerves or something a little more subtle & soft to make everyone feel the feels. When picking a celebrant there is no right or wrong choice it just has to be the right choice for you. In the lead up to the wedding is when you will have most contact with your celebrant so this is when you discover if you want someone who is extremely organized as well as passionate to motivate you in every aspect needed. Or whether you want someone super laid back who isn't going to ask much of you. RESEARCHNow is the time to start creating a list of potential celebrants you might want for your special day. First of all if you know anyone recently married you could ask them who the used, buy wedding mags, use the internet, ask your venue, the world is literally your oyster. If you type celebrants for your area into google the options are endless! Always think back to what you want though, you might like the look of many of the options but then you might not click with them, it is totally fine it is all about trial. You know that funny thing called your gut instinct? When you know you know. When you find someone along your research journey if they have videos watch them, if they have reviews read them, if they have blogs absolutely go for it. You can never do enough research to find the perfect celebrant for you! REVIEWSOnce you have come across someone you could potentially want, jump on to their website to check out their reviews sections, read through them thoroughly to find out all about what their clients have said. Find out how many reviews they have, what have people said about them? Do their experiences work in with what you want as a couple? Read some of their clients testimonials as well, it is so important to try get to know more about your celebrant before meeting with them. ASK QUESTIONSNow hopefully you have an idea of who you want to get in contact with.
Ask them lots of questions, there is honestly no harm in asking questions, if you feel uncomfortable approaching your celebrant to ask any type of question then finding another celebrant might be the better option for you. Communication is key, you both need to be on the same page about everything. The best way to get to know your celebrant & if they are right for you is to ask them about their life. Why are they a celebrant? What do they like to do outside of work? What are their most popular interests? These things will get the conversation flowing, then you will know whether you click or not. Something that might work for you is meeting with multiple celebrants before making your decision, there is never any right or wrong answer it is your own journey, enjoy it!! |
