Good morning! Today I am going to touch base on how to make your wedding environmentally friendly, preserving the environment is something that is super important for a sustainable future. What is the point of single use plastics & items you simply just throw away after all the pressure to get the "picture perfect instagrammable wedding" many of us don't even think twice about the impacts that our wedding purchases & excess food have on the environment so down below are a few great ways to reduce our impact on the environment to make everyone happy for the foreseeable future. You want your wedding to be one of the most memorable days of your life but in fact it is also one of the most wasteful days if you're not careful. They say the average wedding wastes around 200 kilograms of trash and 65 tons of carbon dioxide in one single day... :( Luckily eco friendly weddings are becoming increasingly popular ( I think our generation is so extremely lucky to have the worlds most amazing mans influence "David Attenborough" that the message is finally sinking in) Honestly how can you not love that man. Okay so I'm going to list a few small changes below that can honestly make the biggest difference! CHOOSE A SUSTAINABLE WEDDING VENUEOne of the easiest ways to have a sustainable wedding is to first find a venue that prides themselves on reducing their carbon emissions. The way in which venues do so are through the following.
SKIP THE WEDDING FAVOURS & DONATE TO CHARITYNow I know it can be exciting be the thought of buying all your guests a cute little gifts, in token of appreciation for coming along to celebrate... But with the thought of buying gifts I don't think we all really think of the impact single use items that are seamlessly junk like? Why not donate to charity. There is honestly so much poverty around why not help others out before wasting money on silly little token gifts. Doing this will literally wipe out the waste factor for lets say 100 guests? That is massive !! CHOOSE ECO FRIENDLY WEDDING INVITATIONSNowadays there are so many options for eco friendly wedding invitations. It is easier than ever to find invitations made from recycled paper, or to even DIY out of recycled paper yourselves. KEEP THE GUESTLIST SMALLI know it may seem tempting to invite literally everyone you know to your special day. The smaller the guest list the smaller the waste you produce. A great idea is setting your date 18-24 months in advance so you can partake in a natural cull of friends & family who simply don't make the effort with you in the lead up. RENT TUXES RATHER THAN BUYUnless high end fashion events are a part of your regular routine or ritzy dinners/ galas then I honestly doubt you will wear your tuxe more than once. To prevent fash fashion why not rent them to help the planet!
This will also save your groomsmen some money :) |
