The importance of a bridesmaid!

Being asked to be a bridesmaid is a wonderful honour, however this is not all about you. This is such an important role to take on & being this close to the bride its pretty special.
If you have never been one before this could be quite the daunting task, depending on the bride’s chill factor. 
Some bride’s like to take complete control on everything even down to the hen’s party. Where as other brides will put complete trust in their bridesmaids & want their input to plan everything together. There is no right or wrong way to go about it which is why they are all so unique & special.
However everyone is different & it’s up to the individual, for the majority here is a list of general etiquette & pointers to help you be the perfect bridesmaid.

General bridesmaid etiquette 

• Just being there with a positive mindset is going to make everything run smoothly. During this time being an all rounder is a must to help out in any area that needs it in the lead up.
• Supporting the bride at any appointments, helping choose flowers, colour themes, styling décor, food choices, venues & the list goes on. Give constructive criticism & honest opinions in the brides best interests. You may need to help with the RSVP lists, addressing envelopes, sometimes the bride may even like you help with DIY projects to help style their big day. 
• Offering some financial contribution. This doesn’t mean empty your bank account or go overboard. It is just a nice gesture to offer with the small stuff. There is no golden rule about who pays for what, again its up to the individual. Discuss the budgets openly between the bridesmaids honestly & realistically. You need to talk dresses, accessories, shoes, hair/makeup/nails/tans and have a clear understanding of who is covering these costs. But remember, it is not a one way ticket to a new outfit, you may be required to chip in.
• A speech or some sort of toast. This is a really special way to reiterate your love & support to the couple & thank them for choosing you to celebrate their special day.

Lets talk wedding day!

The morning of the wedding is one of the most exciting parts. Getting to share the moment of your closest friend getting all dolled up & slipping in to the dress of her dreams is so beautiful. A few things you can do to make the bride feel the most relaxed is to make sure everything & everyone is exactly where he or she needs to be so they can make the day absolutely perfect! Reassuring her that everything will be fine will take the unwanted worry away from her so she can focus on what she has to do.
Have the brides back. Keep an emergency kit of tissues, lipstick, and makeup for any touch ups throughout the day in your handbag. Also bandaids for blisters & a sewing kit for any wardrobe malfunctions.
Lastly for the ceremony remain calm & trust that everything is organized so you can enjoy this special day altogether. You can shower the bride with positivity & good vibes so that all she needs to do is focus on her husband to be! Such exciting times. Enjoy!

Nailing the bridesmaid role

I don't know about you guys but I love helping to organise things, this is the super fun stuff & in the lead up there is so many small tasks to be completed. Offering your assistance to do absolutely anything is so important!
Depending on what ideas the bride has, listening to everything she wants is essential in the planning process so you can deliver once the main event arrives.
​The more you prepare in the lead up, the easier it is going to be to relieve any worry or doubt on the day.
The bride will always choose her bridesmaids wisely knowing they will pick up on any faults throughout the day whether it be holding her dress from blowing in the wind, fixing a piece of hair thats come undone, the simple stuff you would want fixed if this was you. When it comes to the photos the more natural they are the better. Theres no need to fluff the dress or touch her, the photographers will guide for the best outcome for the photos. When it comes to the reception make sure to keep an eye out that the bride always has a drink in her hand, because what are friends for!? 
Lastly remember you have been chosen to partake in this extremely special day to give your constant love, support & a helping hand wherever needed.
