So I take it you are past the engagement process now you are trying to pick the best time to get married. Here is a little introduction to my findings on what season is the most popular to tie the knot!
Trying to decide on a specific time of the year or month to get married will be one of the most important decisions you will make. This decision comes before you choose a venue, a dress, the vendors or anything else involved in your wedding day.
This is just the beginning of all thats involved so choose carefully.
Lets get down to the nitty gritty of which month is the favourite.

The seasons

Lets evaluate the seasons by talking pros & cons for each one.
Regardless of whether you may be a seasoned wedding attendee or you are yet to experience one, the following pros & cons will help when it comes to the planning side of things.

summer

The summer months can be great time of the year to get married if you are all about those warmer busy days. Statistics show that the other seasons are far more popular when it comes to the crunch of picking a season, as some would argue, they seem to have a lot more going for them . You be the judge.
PROS
  • Plenty of florals to choose from.
  • Warm weather which means you don't have to over dress for the colder nights.
CONS
  • Extended daylight hours- The sun sets later so this means that the couples will start the ceremonies later in the day, this can shorten the overall time you get to spend with your guests.
  •  Harsher light- Due to the summer sun the light for photography can be less favourable than other seasons. Photographers want softer lighting for the most picturesque photos. When the sun is shining bright it can make the photos a lot harsher.
  • Hot temperatures- Some guests will struggle with being out in the heat in the afternoon for the ceremony. Finding it uncomfortable for both guests & the bridal party losing energy in the afternoon with the late afternoon sun.
  • Hair & makeup will deteriorate quicker-  Ideally you want to look your best all day, with sweltering temperatures this can cause makeup to run & hair to sweat.
  • Flowers will wilt much faster in the heat.
  • Summer is still quite busy for weddings- You will need to be extremely organised, you will need to have everything locked in quite early & don't forget to look for venues with an air con!

autumn

Reading into photographers blogs and what their favourite seasons are to photograph, autumn takes the cake. There is always so much going for this season which I think is why its easy to pick as a favourite for photographers!
PROS
  • Comfortable temperatures- Your guests won't be freezing or sweating during Autumn
  • Insane lighting- There is something incredible about the light during Autumn which always make the photographs easy to drool over.
  • The colour palette- Because of the changing seasons there is a vast variety of new colours to use in your photos.
  • More sunsets- There are far more sunsets during Autumn which makes photos amazing.
CONS
  • The rain can be a little more frequent.
  • Peak wedding season can be found in Autumn so it may be a little more difficult to pick your desired date & venue.
  • Public holidays, there are plenty of public holidays so your guests may other plans to take holidays elsewhere and not be around.

winter

I know personally when winter approaches I'm out of here! Don't be put off by those colder months though, they actually do have a lot to offer when it comes to getting married. Its all about choosing the right venue!
PROS
  • Cosy feels- Think mulled wine & open fires, winter can help create a really nice atmosphere for your wedding.
  • Longer reception times with no interruptions- The sun sets earlier, this means you can start your reception earlier & you won't have to duck out to catch the sunset like in summer months.
  • Your guests can wear suits & jackets comfortably without the sweltering heat. You can always put more layers on to warm up but you can only take so many layers off to cool down.
  • Financials- Some venues offer cheaper weddings in winter, also vendors might be open to doing some good deals in those colder months. (Check out our winter wedding offer under the promotions tab)
  • Honeymoon opportunities- Overseas honeymoon destinations are in their summer months so what a great chance to jet set over to the other side of the world to enjoy those warmer days!
  • The lighting- The suns light is softer in winter because the sun is lower in the sky. This will be a big advantage to your photos overall.
CONS
  • Fewer florals- Fewer flowers will be in season, you may have a little less to choose from when it comes to styling.
  • Cold weather- Unfortunately it isn't everyones cup of tea.

spring

Much like Autumn, Spring is also one of the more favourite season for weddings.
It has proven for couples to be a bit tricky to choose between Autumn & spring.

PROS
  • Mild temperature- Spring has very comfortable temperatures to get married in. This also means you can have outdoor ceremonies because the weather is pretty mild.
  • All the flowers will be in bloom- This means your florals & photos will look amazing.
  • Food- There are a lot of different foods in season during spring so this makes the variety more interesting & your menu will be fresh!

CONS
  • Its peak season- This means you will need to book everything in advance to make sure you don't miss out.
  • No savings- Spring is a popular time to get married so there won't be any discounts readily available.
  • Wedding photo locations may be crowded. Due to peak season if you headed to popular public locations for photos there may be crowds of people or even other wedding parties all depending on the location of your wedding.
