Hi! Nice to meet you!
You’re choosing more than a wedding venue. You’re choosing the people behind it.
You can have the beautiful ceremony spot.
The incredible food.
The full dancefloor.
The perfectly set tables.
But there’s something else we think matters just as much.
The people you’re going to be doing all of this with.
By the time your wedding rolls around, we’ll have spent a helluva lot of time together. There’ll be emails, phone calls, planning meetings, probably a few changed minds and plenty of questions along the way.
So, we reckon a proper introduction is in order.
Hi. We’re Abbie, Stacey and Em.
We all host venue tours here at The Shearing Shed, so chances are one of our faces will be the first you see when you book a look.
Here’s a little more about us.
Abbie
Abbie is the owner of The Shearing Shed, but the story of this place started long before weddings.
The property has been in her husband Scott’s family for three generations, and The Shearing Shed was once exactly that, the family’s working shearing shed.
These days there are fewer sheep and a lot more champagne.
Abbie has been running weddings here for 13+ years and keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes too: enquiries, emails, accounts, invoices and all the admin that comes with running the place.
She also loves a good spreadsheet. Like, really loves a good spreadsheet.
But for all the emails and admin, Abbie is a people person at her core. She loves hearing what couples have planned, throwing ideas around and figuring out how to make it all work here. Give her a half-formed idea and there’s a pretty good chance she’ll already be thinking about how we could pull it off.
After hundreds of weddings, Abbie knows what works. She knows where things can come unstuck. She knows the things couples tend to worry about that really aren't worth worrying about and the few things that are.
She’ll give you an opinion when you need one, find a solution when something isn't quite working and remind you that you don't have to do something just because every wedding you’ve seen on Instagram seems to have it.
There’s no one right way to have a wedding. There’s just the way that feels right for you.
Stacey
Our Wedding Coordinator and the person you’ll be very glad exists when your wedding starts getting real.
Stace is your calm in the chaos and quite honestly, a bit like a warm hug in human form.
She’s warm, reassuring, super organised and always thinking three steps ahead.
You’ll sit down with Stace for your six-month planning meeting and again six weeks out to lock in all the final details. Together you’ll work through your timeline, suppliers, menu, seating, dietaries and all the other bits and pieces that need pulling together before the big day.
Then, come wedding day, Stace is in her element.
She’s the one keeping an eye on timings and quietly shuffling things around when the speeches inevitably run a little longer than planned.
She knows when to stick to the plan, when to move things around and when something simply isn’t worth bothering you about.
A big part of Stacey’s job is taking care of all of that quietly in the background. You’ve spent months planning this day, making decisions and thinking about every little detail. When it finally arrives, you should get to enjoy it.
Stace will be right there with you, from the first meeting to the last dance.
Emily
Our resident vibes queen and social media guru.
Em brings a whole lot of energy to The Shearing Shed. She knows this place inside out, loves people and can make just about anyone feel like an old friend within five minutes of meeting her.
If you’ve spent any time stalking us on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen a little of Em’s work.
She’s the one capturing so much of what happens around here. The weddings, the food, the dancefloors and all the bits in between that give you a feel for this place before you’ve even walked through the doors.
You might even spot her on your wedding day, capturing a little behind-the-scenes content of the team doing what they do best.
Managing our socials might be her main gig these days, but Em still jumps back on the floor for the occasional wedding and boy does she love it. Good old-fashioned country hospitality is a big part of who we are here at The Shearing Shed, and Em is pretty much the epitome of it. Making people feel welcome just comes naturally to her.
For Em, it’s always been about the people. The socials just give her another way to tell their stories.
And then there’s the rest of the crew...
Our incredible chef and kitchen team, making sure nobody leaves hungry.
Our bar and floor staff, pouring the drinks, clearing the plates and looking after your guests.
Mick, our groundskeeper, keeping those gardens looking immaculate.
And plenty more hands behind the scenes making it all happen. (Above is just a few of them!)
When you choose a wedding venue, you’re also choosing the people you’ll trust to help you pull it all together.
And you want a bloody good team in your corner.
Come and meet us.
We’d love to show you around.
