Amy and Billy's wedding?

"I questioned my choices a few times," she admits.

But when she walked into both the ceremony and reception spaces and saw it all come together?

She knew she'd trusted the right instinct.

More importantly, so did their guests.

Over and over again, people commented on how colourful, relaxed and unmistakably "Amy and Billy" the whole day felt.

That's about the biggest compliment a couple can receive.

Falling in love... with Phillip Island.

Long before the wedding, Phillip Island had already become part of Amy and Billy's story.

After holidaying here with family, they bought a home in Cowes in 2024.

Choosing to get married on the Island was never really a question.

It already felt like home.

After looking at a couple of venues, one stood out immediately.

"The Shearing Shed was a no-brainer."

Of course, it wasn't just the venue itself.

It was the people.

The feeling.

The sense that this wasn't simply somewhere to host a wedding.

It was somewhere that genuinely cared about creating one.

From there, planning became surprisingly easy.

Some suppliers came through recommendations from The Shearing Shed, others through Instagram, but every decision came back to one simple question.

Do these people feel right?

The answer, thankfully, was yes.

The wedding that couldn't be copied.

One thing Amy says really stood out during planning was that she never quite found another wedding that matched the picture in her own head.

Instead of chasing inspiration, she trusted herself.

A couple of floral references.

One table setting she loved.

Then decision by decision, everything slowly came together.

Looking back now, she says the result brought her so much joy because it didn't feel borrowed from Pinterest.

It simply felt like them.

It's something we'd encourage every couple to remember.

The weddings people remember aren't the ones that perfectly follow trends.

They're the ones that tell a story.

Blink... and suddenly you're married.

Ask almost any couple about their ceremony and you'll hear the same thing.

"It was over so quickly."

Amy laughs that the whole ceremony almost feels like an out-of-body experience.

Months of planning.

Weeks of excitement.

One very emotional walk down the aisle.

Then suddenly...

You're married.

One moment, however, stands out above all the rest.

Without telling anyone beforehand, Amy and Billy surprised their mums by asking them to witness and sign their marriage certificate.

It's such a beautifully simple idea.

Mums often spend so much of the wedding quietly supporting everyone else.

Giving them a meaningful role in the ceremony was the perfect way to acknowledge everything they'd done while still allowing them to avoid the spotlight they would never have chosen for themselves.

There was another moment that made the walk down the aisle even more special.

Amy's twelve-year-old daughter, Anabelle, walked beside her.

It wasn't simply a beautiful mother-and-daughter moment.

It was the moment they officially became a family.

Sometimes the best outfits are simply the ones that feel like you.

Amy laughs that wedding dress shopping wasn't nearly as complicated as people warned her it would be.

She walked into Grace Loves Lace.

Found the dress.

Fell completely in love with it.

Done.

"When can I wear it again?" she jokes.

Billy kept things classic with a timeless black suit, creating the perfect contrast against the rose-toned bridesmaid dresses, vibrant florals and lush greenery that surrounded them all day.

Simple.

Classic.

Effortless.

Exactly right.

The dance floor says everything.

Every wedding has a moment where the atmosphere shifts.

The formalities disappear.

People loosen up.

The real celebration begins.

For Amy and Billy, that moment belonged to live music.

While some questioned whether a live band would keep the energy up all night...

The White Tree quickly answered that question.

A roaming saxophonist weaving through guests.

A packed dance floor.

Friends singing together.

Guests who simply couldn't stop smiling.

"It created such a fun vibe," Amy says.

But somehow, the biggest performance of the evening wasn't from the professionals.

It came from Billy.

Apparently, whenever a microphone appears and enough Dutch courage has been consumed, Billy and one of his mates have a long-standing tradition of performing Angel by Shaggy.

His closest friends expected it.

Almost nobody else did.

Watching a usually reserved groom suddenly transform into the night's headline act had the entire room in stitches.

Phones appeared.

People sang along.

The dance floor erupted.

It was ridiculous.

It was hilarious.

And it was absolutely perfect.

The moment she'll never forget.

When we asked Amy about her favourite moment, she didn't choose the ceremony.

Or the speeches.

Or even Billy's unexpected performance.

Instead, she described something beautifully ordinary.

Standing on the dance floor towards the end of the night.

Looking around.

Watching family talking.

Friends laughing.

People dancing.

Seeing every chapter of her life together in one room.

"I remember thinking... how freaking amazing is this?"

That feeling, she says, is hard to put into words.

It wasn't about the flowers.

Or the styling.

Or the timeline.

It was simply overwhelming gratitude for the people surrounding them.

Sometimes that's what weddings really are.

One enormous reminder of just how lucky we are.

Advice worth listening to.

If Amy could leave future couples with one piece of advice, it's beautifully simple.

Trust your gut.

Don't change your ideas because they're not trending.

Don't second-guess the things that make you smile.

And don't over-orchestrate every minute.

"The best parts of our day were the ones we never could've planned."

Looking back, we'd have to agree.

Because while guests will remember the incredible food, the live band, the colourful styling and Billy's unforgettable Shaggy performance...

What they'll remember most is how the whole day made them feel.

Joyful.

Relaxed.

Completely themselves.
